Can I use a plastic screw stud in the healing stages of my nose piercing?

I got my nose pierced about a month ago. Two days ago I scratched my nose forgetting that it was there. It came out and it was a loop stud and I can't get it back in. I've put a plastic stud in so that it wouldn't close. I was hoping someone could tell me if its fine or not. Also all of the other studs I own are thinner then the original one that was put in when I got it pierced. Thanks!
