How does a person let their family know that hospice means "the end"?

i have a family member that has a terminal disease, and is at the last stage of it. the dr has ordered in home hospice care. when the hospice providers called to set up the first meeting, the family members daughter, didnt understand why they were saying that hospice is for making the last days as comfortable as possible. is the daughter in denial or does she not understand that her father is passing?
