If the honeymoon stage lasts 2-3 yrs, how do couples maintain the love afterwards?

I guess I've seen too many Hollywood romances that are intense about moments of love. it's just the moment. there's hardly any romances that have a long-lasting love. I haven't seen much of that in real life. how does a couple's love maintain that love after the honeymoon phase?
